It was accepted that it is an improvement on the old \ldblquote T\rdblquote junction layout. However when cyclists are approaching this roundabout f rom the Teignmouth direction and wish to go into Kingsteignton there is a need to put in a short cycle path that allows cyclists to by-pass the pinchpoint at the give way line. They are going uphill; travelling relatively slower then motorised vehicles a nd they feel threatened at this point.}{\b\f0\fs22\lang2057 \par }\pard \s15\qj\nowidctlpar\widctlpar\adjustright {\f0\fs22\lang2057 \par While the Chief Engineer at the Forde Road Office, Graham Heath, had said that cyclists could always talk to him if they had a problem this reactive approach was seen to be less than satisfactory. Cyclists needed a pr oactive system in place to have confidence}{\b\f0\fs22\lang2057 }{\f0\fs22\lang2057 in the planning process. \par It was noted that there are a number of major schemes being planned for the area, in particular between Newton Abbot and Kingsteignton, that will affect the road network and the NACG members wanted to be involved in the decision making process. \par \par }{\b\f0\fs22\ul\lang2057 Cycling on Prescription \endash (Cycle Till Your Heart\rquote s Content) \par }{\f0\fs22\lang2057 This programme has started with 19 attendees across an age range of 25 to 70. They are learning the basic skills to become relatively comp etent cyclists and at the same time getting at least 1 hours exercise. This means that drivers leaving and cyclists on the path have restricted visibility of each other of the vehicle is close to the wall.
